I can’t think of a better way to start a Saturday than remembering the comedy hit series “Laugh In.” Wow, those days in the ’70s where simple, funny, innocent and most of all real. I used to love seeing our favorite celebs and politicians getting the “Fickle Finger of Fate,” and they were so worthy of the award each and every time!
What man doesn’t remember Goldie Hawn as the sexiest hippy in the world and always wanting someone to “sock it to her.” Her antics on the show were just about over the top for the censors of the time period.
Who could forget Ruth Buzzi as the prim and proper spinster and Arte Johnson as the dirty old man sketches. I laughed each and every time she got after him with her purse after he would say, “Do you believe in the hereafter? She would answer, “Yes.” Arte would reply, “Then you know what I am here after!”
Arte Johnson also did a hilarious imitation of a Nazi soldier, which at the time was a little controversial, but reason won out and the skits continued.
Joann Worley and Judy Carne were also sensational comedians who keep us laughing the whole show.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention, Gary Owens. He was so funny trying to play the serious announcer. No one could be serious on this show!
Last, but not least – my all-time favorite!
There were so many others, far too many to mention here. Do yourself a favor and Google “Laugh In” and see all the pictures of one of the funniest shows on TV. They don’t make them like that anymore….
I’m just laughing,
